This is a good option if mother is unable to carry the baby to term in her womb due to absence or weakness of womb or due to medical reasons. The couple can opt for implanting the embryo in another woman's womb who shall carry the baby to term. This woman is a Surrogate.
According to the present ART Guidelines drafted by ICMR, all donors except surrogate need to be anonymous to the intended couple. The activity of supplying donors and surrogates are carried out by ART Banks.
